Great American Steak and Buffet was founded by Steve Ellis and Guy Clark.  By 1995, the first restaurant was opened for business in Knoxville, TN.  The Western Sizzlin Corporation acquired the restaurant concept in 1996 and since then has expanded the concept to 14 stores in 5 states.
